Dry hay rain

   / Dry hay rain #11
In my neck of the woods, people like to use granular salt for stacking borderline hay or even under the first layer if stacked close to the ground. Just sprinkle the salt liberally kind of like a cajun would do on their breakfast eggs. The salt will "pull" the moisture to an extent and the animals like the taste.

I don't make hay but those I buy from claim that a little moisture on fresh cut won't hurt if left to dry but once raked it will?

Even though high temperature, wind, and low humidity make it difficult, farmers can still produce High-quality hay by keeping bale temperatures below 135°F.
