Dry mix or wet concrete for ballast box

I mixed my concrete and chucked some rocks in the mix as I went. I just used less concrete for the same outcome.

I do not understand using concrete (wet or dry). Just use sand or whatever you have laying around. That way you can reduce the weight or increase the weight as needed. Personally I would use sand so I end up with a "flat" top area. Leave a few inches below the lip of the box and you have a place to put tools and what not.

Put a PCV pipe in the box vertically so you have something to put a shovel or rake in.

Might look at bricks. block, or pavers to see if they might take up most of the volume and then fill in the gaps with sand.

Solid concrete blocks are pretty inexpensive. $2 for 33 pounds.

Oh I understand that completely. Of course now you got me curious as to how much matter is actually destroyed in an atomic bomb. The estimate for Hiroshima is that 7/10 of a GRAM of uranium actually underwent fission reaction and was converted to energy. Yes that is seven tenths of a GRAM. A dollar bill weighs just about a gram.

This is my future "box" when I get time to melt it. one cubic ft. = 707.96lbs. (scrap lead from restoring old stained glass windows) have about a ton of it

I think the rest is just needed to obtain critical mass. :confused3: It is truly amazing. Can you imagine the "nuclear bomb deniers" that would exist today?!
