Dryrotted tire, can it be tubed or replaced?

One rear tire is leaking, can hear a hiss. It's falling apart and should be replaced, but as a for now fix, can it be tubed? It's 11x24 and looks like layers are coming off in places.

It can probably be tubed for a temporary fix. You could also try injecting some tire sealant, slime, or fix a flat. Tire could also be foam filled. Ask the local tractor dealers maybe they would have a used tire.
If it's truly falling apart then bite the bullet and replace.

Thanks, of course when I realized it, it was a half hour after the tire place closed and they don't reopen until monday. I'm looking to buy the tractor, just trying to see how deep I'm getting in.

I had a tube put in an 11x24 last fall. Cost $75 plus my labor and transportation. I'm gonna replace it in the spring. Yours sounds worse than mine.Might be better to do the job once.

If possible I would replace the Tire you would be Money a head.

Look for a used if money is tight. If its as bad as I think it is you should be able to find a better one.

Yeah, looking around they're not to bad. I was thinking it would be a lot more. Chunks the size of my fist could be pealed back, and after driving around, it had a loud hissing from a 6" long crack.

Definately sounds like a replacement. If one tire is that way; if all are the same vintage, the rest are not far behind. If the same vintage I would plan my buy on getting 4 new tires. Might even be a bargaining point.

Searchtempest is your friend. You can find descent tire deals if you are patient. Use it to get a better deal.

Thanks for the input. Oddly, the other 3 tires look great with no rot. I think the previous owner hit or rubbed something with the sidewall of hte tire causing the damage, but it's hard to tell.
