So a different receiver is required for two channels so to speak?

No. I have only one receiver on my blade. The laser transmitter sends only one beam out, which is captured by the receiver. And that beam can be tilted either, or both, north/south, and east/west

Nope, the laser is the same. You can just adjust it from level N/S AND E/W. Single slope will only adjust N/S. Obviously you can rotate it before setting slope, but you get the idea.

Dual slope models are much more likely to be stable to a specific value. Like type in a 1% grade & it sets it in the X or Y plane. Single slope units seem to have no screen & adjust a tiny, probably fixed amount every time you hit the up or down arrow... if it's getting signal from the IR remote, which is drowned out by the sun at even short distances. Or walk back to the laser & hit a button. Either way you have to measure off a fixed distance & do the math then change the slope, then re-measure. Then repeat that loop a ton.
