This is the finished hole in the ground that will eventually fill up and become a small pond.

The spring is on the right side cut into the hill. This picute is about two weeks after the previous one with the backhoe.

The area the Bachoe was sitting is now under about 4 inches of water. The spring is flowing, but extremely slowly.

It filled up the hole from the very first picture in the thread overnight, but the bigger hole is gonna take all year to fill.

I figure it to be about 3,000 square feet of surface area when full.

The rains filled up the pond a few weeks ago. It will take some time to clear up and for some plants come in. But for now, I'm really pleased with the way it turned out.

I was at Home Depot the other day wondering up and down the isles when I got this idea to build a small deck next to my little pond.

I priced out what I needed for a small 4 ft by 8 ft deck and decided it would be a fun project on a nice day.

This looks like a good spot to put it.

The landscaping timbers are half the price of 4x4 posts. I cut three of them in half, and the last one I cut into 32 inch lengths.

Everything needed is loaded and ready to go.

Just a simple matter of lining everything up and checking for level.

My helper really speeded things up.

The posts are all different heights depending on what they hit on the way down. The longer ones hit something really solid. The shorter ones went in much easier.

I cut the excess off with my chainsaw.

She finished it off securing the decking while I cleaned up and put everything away.

It took us about 4 hours to build. Total cost in material was a little over $100 including lag bolts and new screws for the PT wood.

It should provide a nice place to put a bench and relax for years to come.
