Dumb Crooks

I remember recently here in WV there were several cases of people passing out fake bills which were made with regular paper using a color copier. At least these folks were "smart enough" to make bills in denominations that actually exist.

I read about the ones going on around St. Marys and Harrisville, but I think all the stories stopped after this story came out--

Counterfeit Story

Sounds like this fellow wasn't all that bright either. He gave a story and the police checked it out. Cameras are everywhere! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

"I'm sure the cashier had $998,400.00 to give her change..."

Well, if the cashier and Wal-Mart DID have enough money on hand to give her change, how was she going to carry it out of the store....in a shopping cart? DUH.

Do you know what state doesn't have its own zip code?? It shares the first two digits with its neighboring state.

Vermont shares the 05 prefix with Massachusetts and Rhode Island shares the 02 prefix with Massachusetts. All of the other states are unique. For example, Ohio has 43, 44, and 45 prefixes for their zip codes but no other state does.

By the way, I live near Newton Falls, OH 44444. The only other one in the U.S. like that is Young America, MN 55555.

Junkman, you've given me an idea... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

R: the copying of currency

There are now software algorithims that can prevent photocopy machines from copying currency. See Anti-Counterfeit Detection.

( They had a good one in Dayton the other day. Some young kid robbed someone, took off in his car, then the police chased him until he crashed his car. Then he got out of the car and took off running until his pants which were just barely hanging on his butt, fell down around his knees and tripped him up. I was laughing so hard I didn't catch all the details. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif )

That's no joke. I don't run fast. But I can catch a kid who's running and trying to hold up his pants. Besides, I only have to get within 21 feet (taser range) /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The only crooks we hear about are the dumb one's. They got caught. It's the smart ones that never get caught that are the problem.
