Had to put up with this silly position driving tractors when I grew up. Rain goes down the exhaust when they're straight up, too. Stupid place for them to discharge, except that it's cheap for them to make them that way.

Hey Keith, do you have a loader on yours. My brother bought his new. It's about ready for a clutch and a set of rear tires. Pretty good tractor.

That statement isn't really true. Back in the late 50's and into the 60's a lot of smaller Masseys had the horizontal exhaust. This was mainly the case no matter if the tractor was gas or diesel. Ofcourse over a period of year some of these exhausts were rerouted as the gasoline versions had the potential to set fields on fire.

By and large most other tractors manufactured have had vertical exhausts, no matter what the fuel.

In today's world of the average home owner's use there has been a return to the horizontal exhaust on the CUTs, likely so they can get through your average garage door. The exhaust goes hand in hand with the folding ROPs.
