you may well be right, i guess they wouldnt have a pump. unless someone wanted to fill their truck mounted bulk tank. a friend of mine farms and has a several hundred gallon tank at his home. he said he paid $2.35 for the last fillup, delivered. if it is okay to use in my 3520 i may get some from him. does anyone have a definitive answer as to whether or not it is okay to use in my tractor?

This is just my opinion, as I don't know the law in your state, fact is I don't know what state you are in. But here, off road diesel, means just that, you can use it in anything that is not licensed to be used on the road. Going to a station to buy some is not road use as its not licensed with plates. I bought 2 5gal cans of it today, I have to drive my car to get mine, as its about 15 miles away, but in a regular pump that states off road diesel. Paid $2.49.9 per gal for it.

They used to call me Sarge before they retired me, and in my state, off-road diesel is perfectly legal to use in agricultural and construction equipment. It is dyed to allow it to be determined if it has been taxed for use on the road by registered motor vehicles. Since federal law also governs use of many highway systems, I would venture to say that it is probably legal anywhere in the good-ole US of A.
Chemically, I believe there's no difference in diesel, heating oil, off-road diesel, save for the blending neccessary for different climates or additives. Filler-up! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I drive my tractor to the pump to use Off Road Diesel. The Gas Station is on the opposite side of the intersection from me. It is about 500 yards away from my home. It is legal. Because getting to and using are two total different things. My use is on my properties, not on the Road.
