Welcome to the forum.
It's the 'fast' dump that is working. Read up on the manual to find out about this feature. When you learn about it, it is handy to have. It causes some frustration when one doesn't know what the two positions are to 'dump' the bucket.

Nothing is wrong with the FEL. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

A belated welcome to the forum.

My 770 does the same thing. If you find something in the manual, please post. Mine is sporadic but I've never noticed a particular pattern when I dump.

Thanks
Brian

This must be pretty common, because mine does this too. Actually I find the loader controls to be imprecise and jerky. I've run loaders and backhoes for years, but my own compact tractor makes me feel like a novice.

I find the boom lift and lower to be difficult too. Usually it raises and lowers easily and smoothly, but every once and a while, when lowering with a load, the boom just drops at the slightest touch. And as said before, the bucket dump sometimes takes extra effort to dump.

A quick question for you guys. Would this loader handle a bigger bucket? I'm thinking a of building a snow bucket for it.

I have 430 loader that does the same thing but only with heavy loads. I have heard this is normal but I have never had a good handle on the purpose of the 'fast dump' feature.

When the bucket control is pushed all the way to the right it puts the cylinder in what I think is called "recirc" mode. I'll have to go back to the manual to verify, but I think that it actually opens both sides of the bucket cylinders to the return line. By the way, my 990 does the same thing. The point is that all the way right changes the hydraulic configuration much like the float position does on the loader arms.

Looked in tractor's owner manual and found the valve that controls the loader has a plate that you flip over and makes the loader dump ok. It's under the seat. Thanks for all of your help /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Close, It is called "regen", short for regenerative. This is a lockout for this on most JD's. You need to lock it out when using a plow or a snowblower with a hydraulically controlled chute, or the cylinders will just stall.

Do a search for "regen" for lots of reading. Do not forget to change the date range to "ALL POSTS" as it default to 1 week.
