Hi Muhammad,

Just accidentally posted the same post twice.
In the past the system has refused to do this, telling me that there was already a post with this name (or some such wording).

Has something been changed that would now allow this?

My post was on the windmill composter thread (by JOR EL @9:21 pm)

Thanks,

Larry

Well no, nothing has been changed, but it isn't a bullet-proof system to begin with. Depends on how you attack it. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif I'll have to test a few things again to see exactly when it is letting the duplicate posts get in. How were you able to enter the post twice?

I know it would be more helpful if I knew just how I did it, ...but I'm not sure. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

I probably hit the wrong "continue" button, while trying to preview, then hit it again intentionally, when I really wanted to post.

Seems I saw a suggestion before to lable one button "preview" , -- the other one "post". Is this not a good idea?

"Bulletproof" or not, I'm sure the system has saved me from doing this many times, because I remember seeing the "there is already a post with this title(or whatever)" a lot, over the months.

Thanks, /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Larry, a couple of times, I've accidentally entered the same (or nearly same) message twice, so I just go to one of them and click on the "Edit" feature and delete that one.

Thanks Bird,

I'll try to remember to "edit", if it happens again.

I tried to do it just now on my recent duplicate, but was told the "edit time has expired", or something to that effect. (Do you know how long the "editing period" is?)

What I don't know about computers would fill many books, but something like that "editing time-limit" doesn't make immediately-obvious sense to me. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif "You can fix it now, ...but you can't fix it later"??

Probably a good reason for it that I'm just unaware-of!

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif !

Yep, Larry, I've encountered that, too. I don't know how long after you post a message you can still edit it, but I do know there is a time limit.

You can edit up to 12 hours after the post. The idea is to be able to correct any typographical errors, but not completely change your post and what you said. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif If you regret posting the message, you can delete it within 12 hours also.
