Dust!

Yep, glad it rained before the strongest winds came.
My place near Commerce got about .25" of rain.
Then the wind took out the power, but for only 3 hours or so.
Went to the ATM at the bank Sunday, it was full of sand and just kept rebooting want someone to put it into "Safe Mode". Nope no cash came flying out.

We don't have Dust storms in Western NC. However a new high school is being built 1 mile from my house. About a 100 acre site. Last summer when grading had started about 60 acres of the site was all red dirt, very dry and lots of powder from the heavy equipment. A thunder storm rolled through one afternoon with 40 mph winds. I could see the dust cloud comming and it obscured the entire mountain range behind my house. Visibility could not have been more than a couple hundred yards. It lasted a good 15 min before the rains came. Made me think of a eclipse with a red golw or what life would be like on Mars

It also made me realize what the guys in Iraq were going through in the dust storms there.

In western China some train cars were derailed by a windstorm.

Dust from China and the Sahara does get to the North American continent.

My sinuses still haven't recovered from that storm.
