Duty life of a sub compact

Thanks guys. I'm still on the fence about new/used. I'd rather start with new but if I can find a good clean used for less I'll go that route. I have experience with large tractors but have never messed with the small stuff.

I paid $9500 for a 3 year old 2210 with 113 hrs and 62" deck. It's approaching 800 hrs now. The engine is the last thing I worry about. If you change the oil and keep clean fuel/air going to it the engine will outlast the machine.

If selling my 2210 today I'd ask $7000.

The equivalent new machine would be a 1026R I think? What's a new 1026 with 60" deck cost?

9-13k used depending on hours and condition, local dealer was pushing a 1025 with 125 hours on it with a FEL and 62in deck for $12,500 about 8 months ago.

All the dealers around here are asking around $18k-$19k for a new 1025 with a FEL and the 7 iron MMM.
The two used one's I've been looking at are a 2003 2210 with 900hrs and comes with a MMM, FEL, and the fancy quick tach 3point. Machine looks like new but they are asking $9975 for it and is a private sale.

Other one is a 2006 2305 with 300hrs that comes with a FEL and MMM. This one looks like new also but I've read there are issues with PTOs breaking so I'm a little scared of this one. I probably wouldn't use the PTO ever but it would be nice to get a rear mount blower or tiller and not have to worry about having a $10k repair because the PTO came apart. This one is at a dealer.

Good luck! I looked high and low for about 9 months. I was willing to travel about anywhere in the USA to pick it up. The used ones I found were so close in price to new it wasn't worth the hassle. I was looking for an near new machine though (less than 5 years old). The one machine that was a "deal" on paper turned out to be a concrete breaking contractor.....no thanks to that one!

My tractor was found in one of those tractor trader magazines, guy was only about an hour and half from my place, I bought a tractor off him and I called a buddy up that bought his 2013 28 Max XL with a BH, FEL and MMM for 14k, had 330h.

There's a few diff outlets to look at when hunting for a tractor.

I have also had luck posting on CL about Wanting Items, I get contacted by people thinking about selling something I'm after, I have found some of my best deals doing that. You get the opportunity to buy something that's not really being advertised yet.
