DX 40 PTO stuck in on and will not start !

DX 40 PTO stuck in on and will not start !

The linkage below the fender is free but PTO lever will not disengage.

I have it in neutral but the motor will not crank

So the tractor will be setting out side tonight, it needs a bath any way

Are you on any type of incline? Do you have a way to rock the tractor back and forth a little bit, maybe use another vehicle? There is a possibility it has become stuck or lodged. Did you turn off the unit with the PTO engaged? Is the PTO connected to an implement?

Is there any binding on the linkage? Can you disengage via the linkage? Is there a possibility a branch/piece of wood could have found it's way into the lane of travel for the lever/linkage?

I would also spray it down with something like PB Blaster.

Work on all the simple stuff first before borrowing bigger trouble.
