Larry, I don't fault your assertion, most likely correct. I'm not sure how many several is or if I would care about the expense. Until or unless it were shown to definitely be a considerable expense, more than the difference between reduced rolling resistance tires and regular tires, I probably wouldn't care. Of course, if I were trying to justify the circulating ball thingies I'd be glad to trot out this justification.

There is a lot to be said for the circulating balls. No one single overwhelming advantage, as I see it, but lots of little ones do add up. In some instances just being able to use Slime would make a difference for me. I like my wheels/tires to be in good balance on the highway but to not go flat off road from Locust trees, bois d'arc, and such. (Glad to report we don't have mesquite.)

Yes! I saw these a long time ago and didnt know they were still around. Lot of money tho - if they lasted forever I guess that would be ok, but the disclaimer at above 75mph also puts me off.

in the 4x4 world ballanceing big meats (tires 35" and over) is very difficult to do. most (if not all) dont fit on ballance machines.

You can use real ballance poweder, people have been known to use copper/steel bb's, but the latest and greates for a DIY version is airsoft bb's

the little plastic bb's, they dont make as much noise as the steel version and are just a fuz bigger than "real" balance bb's/powder. they will NOT fit through a reg valve stem.

Well, technically most trailer tires are not designed to operate at those speeds...
That is where I heard about them and started using them on my horse trailers initially...

Have you seen what happens to the AirSoft ammo after several 10's of thousands of miles? My concern is that it may at least partially grind itself into a powder and then you are back at the caking and packing question.

I wonder about the efficacy of lead shot or the new tungsten alloy shot. I'd expect the lead shot to not be quite so noisy as steel BB shot and not sure about the tungsten. Of course, in the 4x4 venue of your original statement it is unlikely anyone running big meat could hear the difference. They probably couldn't hear a tire filled with little jingle bells.

Well, completely full would be too much. At what point there would be a breakdown of "more is better", I don't know.

A good starting point would be the charts on the web site for the ceramic beads. They recommend how many ounces to use on what sized tire. Using the same weight of fill should produce similar results if the weight isn't in too few pieces. (not likely with the AirSoft ammo.)

Ride never been so smooth , tire wear never so good and even. Rotate never balance again. Buy one extra bag of balance beads, if you have flat , just replace. Easy , Effective , Excellent.

Thanks for the info. That's the same product I posted about in the first post. I have decided to give it a try when I buy a new set of tires.
