Bird,
Please let us know how the Hoover works for you. I haven't had a vacuum cleaner since my ex moved out, and it's something I need to look into. I only have carpet in my bedroom, and I live alone, without any pets, so it's not like I'll use it a lot, but I still need something decent.
Thanks,
Eddie
OK, Eddie, as I said before, my wife ordered the Hoover UH70015 on the 6th from Bed, Bath & Beyond. They did not have one in stock, so they ordered it to be shipped directly to our house, waived any shipping and handling charges, and said it would be delivered within 2 weeks. It actually came via FedEx from Henderson, NV, yesterday (5 days). I only played it very briefly, but my wife went through the whole house with it, so here's the initial report:
The new Hoover UH70015:
1. Made in Mexico. I thought Hoovers were made in the USA.
2. 40 page manual; half English, half Spanish (not unusual).
3. Manual is mediocre at best, but perhaps adequate.
4. Assembly only required sticking the handle on and put in 2 screws.
5. Very quick and easy to remove, empty, and replace the dirt cup.
6. Very strong suction.
7. 40 power cord a bit heavy and awkward for our use; 25' would have been adequate.
8. Quieter than our old Hoover.
9. Good, bright headlight to see the floor in front of the vacuum.
10. Attachments (duster/upholstery and crevice tool) snap in place with push button release so they won稚 accidentally come apart while your working as our old ones sometimes did.
11. Height adjustments are powered, rather than manual, just a touch of the up/down buttons on the handle. Lights indicate which setting you are on; brush off/low/medium/high. Wife likes that quick and easy way to turn off the roller brush on the laminate floor and turn it back on when she gets to a carpet or throw rug.
12. Fancy features sometimes mean more stuff to go wrong or break, but it comes with a 6 warranty.
We think we're going to like it, although I wonder if cheaper models wouldn't be just about as good.
