Dyson Vacuum cleaners

And futhermore...I like the clear cannister that the Dyson has. It is enjoyable to see the things you have vacuumed up swirling around as you continue on your way vacuuming.
When you are done, you can exclaim, "Wow...look at how much stuff I got up this time! Come look and see!"

I think it feeds into my mental condition of cleanliness. All that money for that Orek...I bet your ole' Orek can't do that...

Yep, the UH70015 is a bagless which is something we've never had before. As you can see, Hooever's website still lists it at about $450 with free shipping, but I think Walmart, Best Buy, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and Sears are all listing it at about $300 on sale for $252 to $254. But with the coupon, Bed, Bath & Beyond was $239.99. It comes with a 6 year warranty, so they must have some confidence in it.

Bird,

Please let us know how the Hoover works for you. I haven't had a vacuum cleaner since my ex moved out, and it's something I need to look into. I only have carpet in my bedroom, and I live alone, without any pets, so it's not like I'll use it a lot, but I still need something decent.

Thanks,
Eddie

Eddie, I'll let you know, but in your case I'd probably buy the UH70120 instead. In fact, I seriously considered it myself for less than half the price of the one we have ordered. In fact, Walmart sells the UH70120 for under $99. Our old bagged Hoover WindTunnel worked pretty well for over 12 years and I think the current problem is the cord, in which case it could be repaired, but we wanted to try a bagless.

OK, Eddie, as I said before, my wife ordered the Hoover UH70015 on the 6th from Bed, Bath & Beyond. They did not have one in stock, so they ordered it to be shipped directly to our house, waived any shipping and handling charges, and said it would be delivered within 2 weeks. It actually came via FedEx from Henderson, NV, yesterday (5 days). I only played it very briefly, but my wife went through the whole house with it, so here's the initial report:

The new Hoover UH70015:
1. Made in Mexico. I thought Hoovers were made in the USA.
2. 40 page manual; half English, half Spanish (not unusual).
3. Manual is mediocre at best, but perhaps adequate.
4. Assembly only required sticking the handle on and put in 2 screws.
5. Very quick and easy to remove, empty, and replace the dirt cup.
6. Very strong suction.
7. 40 power cord a bit heavy and awkward for our use; 25' would have been adequate.
8. Quieter than our old Hoover.
9. Good, bright headlight to see the floor in front of the vacuum.
10. Attachments (duster/upholstery and crevice tool) snap in place with push button release so they won稚 accidentally come apart while your working as our old ones sometimes did.
11. Height adjustments are powered, rather than manual, just a touch of the up/down buttons on the handle. Lights indicate which setting you are on; brush off/low/medium/high. Wife likes that quick and easy way to turn off the roller brush on the laminate floor and turn it back on when she gets to a carpet or throw rug.
12. Fancy features sometimes mean more stuff to go wrong or break, but it comes with a 6 warranty.

We think we're going to like it, although I wonder if cheaper models wouldn't be just about as good.

We bought the U5509900 back in April of this year for around $100 and my wife loves how lightweight it is and how easy it is to clean. She said she likes the fact that it always has great suction. It sounds cheap when compared to some others, but when you consider I can buy 5 of these for the price of a Dyson, I think that's significant.

Jim, I'm inclined to think your vacuum is an even better deal than this one we bought. Naturally, I like the idea of a 6 year warranty instead of a 1 year warranty, but the Hoover it replaced was over 12 years old and the only "repair" ever done to it was when I replaced the roller drive belt myself.:)

I have a Dyson DC23 turbinehead canister in the mail..
It was an award for a contest I was in. I would likely have never bought it...

It should arrive Tuesday and I hope to be home by then, but I am on a small road trip in the AM.... 5 hours up and then 5 hours back Tuesday...

So I'll add some comments when I get home...
