Anyone bought a new starter for your tractor on E Bay? It cost me $140 to get the one on my 755 rebuilt last time, I can buy a new one on E Bay for $86. I was just wondering if they are any good.

For $40 diff (assume there is shipping from eBay), is it worth the risk? Maybe that is what you are asking.
Do you know it the eBay starter is the same mfg. or a chinese knock-off? Would be important in the decision, to me.

I think if I need a starter, I'd go with the Deere dealer and new or a re-built one. If it goes bad, my dealer will back me up.

How long did it last after the last rebuild? A properly rebuilt starter should last years...

May not be relevant, but I got one for my STX38 thru Ebay from emsglobaldirect for a third the cost of a new one from J.D.
It's still working just fine after a year.

I see an eBay seller lists one for my 2030 with gear reduction. Seems it would be easier on the batteries, but would it spin fast enough? Or do they spin faster and gear reduction puts them back to std starter speed? Not in the market for one, but would consider it if I needed one
