My front end on my e2004 has been poping i noticed some grease leaking from the left pivot on bottom part where it turns. So i took the wheel off and jacked it up there was alot of slack where the top of ball which goes on top of axle end rests and it pivots i undid the lock nut and tightened it down reducing the slack. any idea on proper technique and if that was ok to do?

Oncee upon a time I saw some stuff that you injected into the slack that hardened out of the tube. That's the only method I ever saw for something that had no adjustment left. I don't recall the name, and haven't ever looked for any.

Back in the old days, automobile front ends had things called "kingpins and bushings". I suspect you need a parts manual and some parts.
