Eagle Claw Tooth

Anybody know anything about Eagle Claw Tooth? First, do you have any knowledge about their chipper tooth performance and longevity and second are they still in business? The website is unavailable and they won't answer the phone. I seem to be limited on tooth options for my magnum mulcher, so if anyone knows of another chipper tooth available I would certainly appreciate the heads up.

And don't say buy a Cimaf cuz even if I could get one it's not in the slow economy budget.

Look up King Kong tools they are the only other company I can think of. I think they are charging $56 per tooth

Tried that and they only offer the same carbide hmmer that we have been using and you are correct on the price, though that is a single side tooth. Managed to get a hold of eagle claw and will order them tomorrow at $50/tooth

You will like the eagle claw tooth. I have a magnum and what i do is if im cutting a lot of oak or hickory for a week or longer, i will use all eagle claw on the head. Other than that i mix them in with the rest. Be sure to keep the balance right. You have to use factors of three to get it balanced right(3,6,9,etc). Also works well putting 15 in the center for the hardwood and the carbides are still there on the sides. This is just my opinion, hope it helps.

Finally someone with firsthand experience. With the claw tooth what can you handle as far as oak diameter and still be efficient? I have quite a few jobs that have 4-6" post oaks and I can't compete with the hammers, but I'm hoping that with these teeth it will go faster. How many hours are you getting out of them?

That size oak with EC tooth is like the carbides on a 3-5" pine. You will have no problem. They are able to be resharpened, and will last at least 20-25 hours without sharpening and out of the dirt most of the time. They will really surprise you. You do know they can be rotated like the carbides right? Its like paying $25 dollars a tooth. They will handle larger material. We used them the first set i bought, for a lot that was logged for the hardwood. The owner wanted all stumps ground level and it handled trunks 24" tall and 35-40" diamiter. it will cut your time in half and your material smaller. Hope this was informative enough. Have fun!

Well we got them installed and what a difference. It's like the difference between a chainsaw chain that has been in the dirt and used on concrete and a brand new chain. Took down a dead 14" post oak and carved it like butter. Took less than 30 minutes to devour the entire tree that I could previously not touch. I took the advise of running 15 in the middle and it seems to be the most efficient solution for what we do. I'm now wondering why I didn't try them a long time ago.

I bought them from Eagle Claw Tooth, but the package came from Bradco and the teeth have magnum printed on them. I'm wondering if I could have bought them from Bradco directly and gotten them cheaper.

No. i tried that. I had the privilage to meet the son in law to the magnum designer. He said that the first set of eagle claw did not have a "fang look", but a planer/chiseled look. When the company was sold, they changed the look because the originals lasted "too long". Go figure right? Glad you like them. Did you pay more than $53.00 per tooth?

Paid $50.00/tooth plus another $2.00 for delivery. Don't quite understand the last too long philosophy. The head would be a lot more attractive with a longer lasting tooth. Cimaf has only 23 teeth I believe compared to the 45 on the magnum. A heck of a lot cheaper to replace teeth and over a little time gives a payback even with the higher price for the head.

Now just to survive this economy and get set up for when things get better.

BTW...Eagle Claw has what seems to be a good price and got my teeth to me on time, so my question earlier was only out of curiosity.
