We're just waiting.............locals all feel it'll be blown out before it gets here. I hope they're right. Will know in 12 hrs time. Current track is just west of me.

I don't ever remember so much news coverage for a storm that was not expected to make landfall as a hurricane...
I understand when it was a cat. 5 storm but c'mon...we've had "no name" storms (Gulf states) that caused more damage than Earl will inflict...

Hey ... I am no wear near it. Been involved in them when I lived on the Coast of Alabama ... Ya'll be extremely carefull and keep a watchfull eye on everything...I will be thinking of you and hoping for the best.

Track has moved and heading straight towards our area within a 25 mile path left or right.

Hurricane Earl prefers Nova Scotia after all | Reality Bites | Halifax, Nova Scotia | THE COAST

We moved everything indoors and tied down outdoor deck furniture. Moved vehicles away from trees etc. Presently getting 3-5' waves on shore but we are protected by outer islands.

We have generator on stand by, extra fuel, open invite to neighbours if they need assistance - will pick up if need be. At least it isn't a N East snow storm!!!!

Stay safe all...

PS: just shy of 30 000 people without power - 2 to 3 day estimated time for reconnect.

The storm is just at Lloyd's door right now - have a good day there Lloyd, I'm hoping we don't lose power and that the storm fizzles a bit as it crosses land on its way by me!

I suspect Lloyd's power (likely Egon's too) is out now. There are currently 130,000 homes in the province without power. That's a lot when the total population is just under a million! So far so good here on the north shore, just a lot of rain and fairly windy so far as the storm approaches. I think I'll drive out to the shore and see if there are any photos worth taking. :)
