NSB, we didn't loose power - yet. See, that's what happens when you prepare... takes all the fun out of it!!!!!

Point your camera on the leeward side - won't get as wet!!!

Earl - We hardly knew ya :)

Got an inch or two of rain last night, no wind. Earl was too far out in the Gulf of Maine for us to get much from it.

Hope the NS folks had no serious issues. 7 meter waves are impressive.

Thanks dave...

Not a lot of rain. Certainly won't fill the well.

A few trees down and as NSB commented 130 000 without power - about 10% of population.

Pretty intense storm, eye passed over us about 1:00pm today. Power went out about 12:00pm, I'm on generator now and internet provider says that we will have the net for approximately eight hours after the power went off, I assume that the battery backup will give out some time after that. I'm guessing we got gusts over 100kph and over an inch of rain. Only damaged I have is my 16' bridge flipped off its base into the pond and a lot of leaves and branchs scattered around.

Well Earl was a bit of a bust for us. But I did get some work cleaning up properties in the neighbourhood. My buddy got the trunks for milling and I got the tops for burning. About 3.5 cords so far...

Enjoy...

Everyone is happy...

Glad you are all good up north - we had nothing here on the coast of NH from Earl, even to I had the generator, saws and Kubota ready to go!

Looks like locust/black locust from the downed trees? Tough stuff to split, but by the wood piles around your place it would seem you have lots of experience in splitting (or tractor/splitter time) getting all that wood ready for the winter..

I am sure we will send you some more storms over the coming months and winter - but appears you have enough wood to tide you over..

Carl,

The wood piles are at my buddies place. Although I do have my own small lot at home.
The locust actually split easily. Never burnt it before. They say it burns like coal. Right side of shed will provide warmth this winter. Left side will be for 2011/12 and the stuff stacked to the right of shed is for backup or extra if need be.

I am sure you will be sending a few more hurricanes our way as well as a few nor'easters just to round out the year - :)!

Today will be my last day splitting for a while... need to return to mowing lawns and preparing for winter... oh the list!
