I have great childhood memories along with long term. Just don't ask me about yesterday, short term sucks.

I can remember being in a play pen (about 4'x4' little fold up job with mesh sides and canvas bottom) in my parents unfinished living room while people were busy working on the house. I would have been quite young as we moved in it, a finished house, prior to my 2nd birthday.

I don't remember much ... but I have faint memories of my maternal grandmother knitting in a living room chair.......of my brother chasing me around a 1954 Chevy until I bashed my forehead into the pointy tail light assembly and then the doctor holding my head between his knees to stitch up the gash ....... and then the day that gramps & his sons put the nose ring in a very large bull.

I remember my mom carrying me into the living room on Christmas morning, 1962 and seeing a red teddy bear under the tree. She asked what I saw and I said George. I was 22.5 months old. I still have the teddy bear. Wish I still had my folks. I also remember "helping" my dad put on a dormitory addition to our house the summer of 1963 when I was 2 and a half. He had 5 kids and added 4 bedrooms, as we all slept in what would become the family room. By "helping" I mean he gave me a hand-crank drill and a block of wood to keep me busy. When he was distracted, I finished the block of wood and started drilling on the redwood trim.... he took away the drill and promoted me to management. :D

When I was born my uncle gave me a Beam Decanter that was full... it was a big joke at the time according to the parents... who was going to drink it... that was decades ago and I still have it unopened.

A few weeks later it was my first Christmas and I was given a small Steiff Tiger... still have that tiger too...

My dad was given a bottle of 12 year old scotch when I was 12. I still have that bottle of scotch unopened as well.

My in-laws used to have dozens of strange liquor bottles. As I recall, one was a chainsaw! When I was dating my wife, I was working several jobs and going to school as well, so I'd go over there and often fall sleep in their basement family room. I recall falling asleep during a family gathering. I woke up to clinking sounds and peeked open my eye to see one of her uncles thinking I was asleep as he drank from the chainsaw on the mantel. hahahaha :)

Not sure how old I was when the family to a trip to my mom's aunt and uncle's farm in Hollis OK. I remember exploring some and playing on a 8N or 9N tractor. All of a sudden the tractor roared to life and I started screaming and crying. Mom's cousin came and picked me out of the seat and calmed me down.

My earliest memory my mom said I would have been about 2 because they were building my grandpas house and I could barely talk. Dad had an old manure spreader made into a utility trailer hooked up to the three point hitch on the 8N and parked between the machine shed and the garage. My older brother and I would always go play on it but this one day the hitch was left up and as I played on the seat he was playing in back, I dropped the spreader on his foot pinning him there. I still remember him crying for me not to leave him there as I ran off to try and find someone where they were building the house.

I have always found it interesting that you cannot remember anything pre 4~5.[/QUOTE
Had a near death experience as a toddler. I was in between my aunt and mother's backsides in a bed, my mother saying "Doll you could have killed him", (bad gas) my thrashing for air woke my mother up. My mother carried me outside for fresh air. I remember seeing ducks flying in an orange sunrise, probably 2 or three years old. Could explain my poor memory now, lol
