I'll definitely check if it's easily accessible or comes apart with ease. Since I'm pulling the cover, I'm going to spray/wipe down the whole interior of the case anywhere that I can reach. It's already pretty clean since I ran diesel through it. I'd rather it stick open than closed!

Good call on the arms/rock shaft, if my books were here I'd have known that! Thanks!

Edit: I just read that the MF (Davis) 99 loader does not have down pressure due to single action cylinders. Why is it, then, that I used my loader to pick the front of my MF Utility off the ground? I did it with the loader arms not the tilt of the bucket. Down pressure is a good thing, something I would use frequently. Any ideas?

Those old loaders were probably gravity down and the cylinders were single acting. Maybe someone put double acting cylinders on yours and the correct control valve. Your three point doesn't have down pressure. It's gravity down.

That's what all the literature I can find says about the 99 loader. I'm not sure about double acting cylinders being added, I definitely lifted the tractor with it though.

The 3pt I knew was just gravity. I'm talking about just the loader.

The 99's had single acting lift cylinders, having double acting lift cylinders does help.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! :)

I'm at my parents' house today for dinner, great meal, great people. Nice relaxing day, hope you're all enjoying yours!

I wandered out to the tractor to make sure I'm not crazy, my loader is indeed a MF99, however it DOES have double acting cylinders on it. Someone must have swapped them out!

Well, my service and parts manuals finally came in. I got them from Yesterday's Tractors. They're going back, I'm not impressed. The print is fine, the bindings are fine, but the actual parts diagrams look like they were photocopied on a 1980's xerox machine. Yikes, I can hardly make out some of the parts I need to really see and understand!

I did what I should have done in the first place, I ordered factory manuals through AGCOPUBS. So now I wait, AGAIN for my manuals to come in so I can dive into this and get it finished before winter really sets in. Get this, total bill from AGCOPUBS was only about $85 for the Service, Parts, and Operator's manuals. I paid $78 plus shipping for the subpar YT manuals!

CRAP!!!!!

That's a bummer. Thanks for the heads up on YT manuals.

Absolutely. For a seasoned tractor owner who's had their machine apart they may be ok, but for a n00b like me, I need quality, clear pics.

Clear pics, descriptions large print, tools needed & even a video would help me.
