My recent search for a new lawn tractor has caused me to ponder the John Deere small lawn tractors of my entrepreneurial youth. I'd say between the ages of 12 and 17 (1992-1997) I had quite the neighborhood racket going on my fathers tractors. He always bought nice small machines with 36-42" deck sizes from a local dealer. For some reason I feel 90% certain that one of my money makers was liquid cooled. Given the rarity and expense of that feature in today's market, I'm curious about this machine. Am I completely mistaken or might someone have some information as to what small liquid cooled JD I may have been using roughly between 92 and 97?
Now as a 30 year old adult, all that mowing paid off and I've got about 2 lush acres on top of a hill that is eating my little LT1042 Cub alive after merely 100 hours. It's constantly breaking parts despite the sort of care and maintenance that would make a classic car jealous. I'm considering the X500, X534, or one of the new GT cubs once more information is released. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
