Just another nice HOA story. Lady gets verbal permission for her dad to park his pick up truck in the management office parking lot so she does not violate the "no trucks in driveway rule".

Truck was to be there for one day and night while daughter visited the hospital.

The HOA towed the truck anyway and the owner had to pay to get it back.

Upon further review, I think you are correct.

Either way, it still sucks for the guy that got towed and lied to.

Daughters neighbor was trying to start an HOA in her neighborhood. He got to the point where he was harassing and belligerent.

I pointed out that since he's trying to start one, then being a member is voluntary. If she doesn't want to be a member, then tell him to pound sand.

I used to rent a house that was in a neighborhood that had a home owners association. Membership was voluntary. All it did was enforce County codes, and keep the light on the signs at the ends of the neighborhood as well as some lights.

The best part was the county line went through the center of the neighborhood so there were two different county ordinances for the neighborhood.

I used to get people walking through the neighborhood, that would come up to me spouting ordinances that I wasn't adhering too I would politely inform them with a large smile on my face that they were spouting ordinances that didn't apply to this half of the neighborhood Then go back to what ever I was doing

That would be the last we would see the inspector until someone new was in the job and the process would start all over.

Did you ever try letting them get to the point where they had a contractor come in to clean it up before you showed them where the property line was?

They always threaten this along with a lien but I figure knowing how the city works it would just cost me more time and frustration...

We have Waste Management for Garbage Service... it is mandatory... sweet deal for Waste Management because if the bill is not paid the city pays and the city liens the property... the fees far exceed the collection charge...

Since the HOA person cited everyone for having garbage containers out the day after Thanksgiving which was due to the Holiday Collection being one day late instead of Thursday it was Friday...

No one has seen that person poking around since Thanksgiving...

I might take the wrong approach but the HOA works for me... since they work for me I have no compunction asking pointed questions and getting answers.

Biggest complaints against me were the service truck parked on the lawn next to the driveway, boat and trailer parked in the same spot (roommate owned the property and boat), or me wrenching on something in the driveway.

One person called the county saying I was running a mechanics shop out of the garage I was tuning up the push mower and cleaning the carb on the weed eater. Code enforcement did stop by for that one.

I explained the service truck for what it was. When asked if I was working on something in the garage I said "Yes!!!! I was maintaining my own equipment.

Happened to a friend of mine... retired Navy Commander who spent his retirement restoring antique cars...

Several time he had code enforcement knock on his door with reports he was running a mechanic business from his home...

He said it is a sad state of affairs when a retired man is questioned working on his own car in his own garage...

It would take as long as a year to do a ground up... and they were national winners...
