Easiest way to remove 422 battery

The battery in the 422 is shot. A casual inspection does not reveal an easy way to remove the battery.

Unfortunately, the battery will require replacement in advance of the engine upgrade.

Any suggestions?

I think there was mention of removing the muffler to get the battery out.

I had to remove the muffler to change my battery. I have one of the "new" welded PT-made mufflers though (which may be larger than the Kohler muffler).

The bad news, you do have to remove the muffler. The good news, pretty easy to remove the muffler. Is your battery still under warranty. Curious that it failed so quick. Let us know what you end up with for a battery.
