If you want Canada Geese by the thousands check out the suburban Detroit golf courses /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. "Flying Rats that leave Green Cigars"

We get quite a few geese in town but law enforcement frowns on hunting in the city limits /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Small world, I'm in Paragould. Rice is doing fine, but everything that's not watered is getting scorched.

Looks like its time to import 10,000 bats.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but isn't Ark. the number one rice producer in the country? Seems like I heard that several years ago...

I always heard it was Texas, so your question made me take a minute to look it up. It turns out that Arkansas is the top rice producing state - by a big margin.

I checked out your link. I did not realize CA. produced so much rice. I am not surprised that TX. ranks so low. I live in east TX. and you just don't see that many rice fields out in the countryside.

We drove through Arkansas on the way out west when I was about 13. Skeeters don't leave much of an impact on the vehicle, but I remember they had SWARMS of dragonflys. Hoards and hoards of really big ones.

Hey Chris - I used to work near you, at Deepwater Power Plant on the channel. Back in the early 70s, everybody on the channel was dealing with subsidance. A lot of the place had gone below sea-level. They were just installing a huge surface water line from Lake Houston (I think that was the right lake) down to Galveston. There was a big push to get all of the industries to convert to surface water and use the line. There was a lot of grumbling that the biggest water consumers weren't industry but the rice farmers.

There are (or there were when I was growing up) a lot of rice farms SW of Houston. Has anybody ever been water skiing on a rice farm? All you need is skis, a rope, and a pickup truck.
