I have a new (to me) seeder I am working on. How does the shaft come off the pto?
Also I am assuming the large bolt in the center plate (3rd picture) is how you add gear oil, fill until it starts coming out?

Picture 1 & 2 looks like a push button release type yoke. Over time they get some rust and won't operate.
Plenty of penetrating oil, a few taps on the button with a hammer to free it up. Once the button is freed up you have to hold it depressed while tapping the yoke off the splined shaft with a hammer. A few curse words and a cool beverage sometimes helps.
Before reassembly clean the shaft, yoke, and apply some grease or never seize.
Can't tell from pic 3 whether that is the fill port but if so it may require some heat and a few taps with a hammer before the wrench can get it loose.

ok, so I hammered pin in, stays flush by itself, now I should be able to wd and hammer yoke off?

Did you spray with penetrant lube first? The pin should pop back out. If you can't get the pin freed up so it moves in and out by thumb pressure most tractor supply houses sell a rebuild kit for them. They also sell complete replacement yokes. Since the pin is in the yoke should come off the shaft with a little persuasion. The pin is spring loaded and releases pressure on a ball bearing which fits into a groove on the PTO shaft and holds the yoke in place on the shaft.

Yes, I have soaked with WD40, I plan on replacing whole yokes, just don't want to mess up pto spline that goes in gearbox, I will continue to try to "persuade" with hammer and chisel. Thanks George.

Don't use a chisel, too much chance of boogering something up.

Use a punch, preferably a BIG one, like a piece of 1" round stock.

Agreed, don't use a chisel. 1" round stock and a good size hammer. Get some PB Blaster or Kroil. They;re much better than WD. Spray it on the splines and inside the yoke so it gets into both sides of the splined shaft. You can also use a little heat on the yoke. Not red hot heat just a little may expand the yoke enough to come off with a few taps.

Might also try moving the yoke onto the shaft. Might loosen the ball. Also can try tapping the outside of the spline but make sure the back up hammer is larger than the tapping hammer.

Language and a pondering glass or two do help.
