eBay/Craigslist ebay item

I sent ebay a notice that this auction was listed as nothing more than a "bash these businesses" listing and should be removed. We will see what happens. I did get a response from the seller.

Here is his response:

yes sir ,i am aware that fredricks does not do the refurbishing, they simply buy for resale .i stated in my e- bay ad that i was given there no. to call and talk to danny ,which i did and young danny was so wrapped up in the fact that these parts were not under warrentee and that mr sims wasnt suppose to give their number out he wouldnt discuss selling me the parts ,also i went to the fredricks websight and tried to get them to e-mail or call me for the purchase of the ft end parts = again no response. if you happen to talk again to tom again ask him to monday question danny on this issue then check his employes computer for my e-mail. my name is george houghton / e-mail xxxxxx@comcast.net . my local ford and jd dealers know my by name and know when i walk in the door im there to spend money ,there is no run around and this tractor is like having the plague /nobody wants to deal with u . thats my whole issue 0=customer service/support/help. thank you very much for you e-mail --- george

I would bet that this guy started out trying to get his parts covered under warranty, Danny had no idea what the guy was talking about. The guy gets mad and buy the time all is said and done, it wasn't that Danny wouldn't sell parts, but the guy with the broke down Vietnamese tractor wasn't thinking straight.

I emailed Fredricks last week with a list of engine part numbers that came from another dealer, Paul answered the same day with price and availability. My tractor didn't come from Fredricks but they are more than willing to sell me parts for it. I gave my neighbor their number for a tiller which they went out of their way to make it work on his Mitzubishi. Having been to their place and talking to them, I kinda doubt if they treated this guy the way he said they did.

I received another e-mail from the ebay seller.

Here was my message to him:

I will talk to to Tom. I imagine Danny got confused if warranty was mentioned since they don't offer warranties on a tractor someone else sold. It sounds as if they guy you bought from is telling people that Fredricks is responsible for warranty parts, am I correct? Tom said he was going to talk to the guy and get this cleared up. He doesn't want bad publicity for something that isn't his fault. Call Danny again just to buy parts without mentioning warranty and see what happens.

Here was his response:

i will do that . .i dont blame fredricks for my tractor problems just disappointed in the treatment i recieved in trying to buy a part.you may be correct perhaps this young man was just too quick to get on the defence.i will go to my listing and remove fredricks from my post.thanks george

He sounds like a reasonable guy. He probably just got really frustrated and who hasn't been there before?

LMTC,
There are good and bad dealers in both the Used and Recon market. There are both good recon factories and good used agents in Japan. We also know there are some bad factories and some Japanese Rip off artists who will send you a container of garabe if you don't know what you are doing or buy from a known source overseas. We have disreputable dealers around here pushing b-grade used tractors that are junk as good machines without making the repairs. I get mot of his help calls. We even have a new tractor sales dealer who should be out of business soon after a short run since he has screwed everyone within 5 counties.

Quality equals the source of the tractor, how well the QA was done before it a customer ever saw it, and how well the dealer supports it both during and out of warranty.

As reputable dealers, who do support there customers, it is important to keep balanced and conistently tell both sides of the story.

Best Regards,
Bob

I just received an update from Tom Fredricks at Fredricks Equipment.

( Brents/Wayne:

You guys are good watchdogs. I talked to this guy this morning. Not that bad of a guy, just didn't understand that we don't usually give out warranty parts for tractors we didn't sell. He was apparrently frustrated with a broken tractor and was venting. He apologized Paul is working up and order for him now and you should see a retraction posted on tractorbynet in the next day or so.

Wanab,

I, and i'm sure many, have been following this post with great interest...and there are some pretty heavy hitters who are members on this board. Dealers and suppliers make a big impact when it comes to tractor selection, maintenance and trouble shooting for the average tractor guy. Their wisdom and experience, given freely, is priceless and their answers to questions are often not found in the owners manual.

Personally, I think your advertisement was very clever. The whole concept of alerting others of the scams that are out there, and maybe the bitter-sweet taste of revenge seemed your only recourse via that media. Unfortunately Fredericks innocently fell into your cross-hairs and that collateral damage was unacceptable.

Hope to see you post often and resolve the situation with your tractor purchase and parts. You will find expert advice and limitless help here.

Regards, Mark
