Just wondering if the ebay Kubota parts end up cheaper or if they are the same price as parts from a reasonable dealer?

For my L4200 I could get all the filters off ebay as follows:

Kubota Engine Oil filter (70000-74035) --- $7.51
Kubota Fuel Filter (15521-43160) ---------- $3.20
Kubota Hydraulic Filter (33960-82630) ---- $24.15
Kubota Air Filter (TA040-93230) ----------- $16.45

Total for all filters would be $51.31 plus looks like around $15 shipping since they offer combined shipping.

Is that about what they cost at the dealer?

What about engine oil, hydraulic fluid and transmission fluid? I bought a used L4200 and am thinking the smart thing to do is do a complete filter and fluid change. Am I going to save much money shopping around or should I just go to the dealer and get what I need there?

Thanks, Nathan

I just checked TractorSmart for your filters, and they're about the same price.

Two things to note - first, check the details on the air filter. If you have a dual filter, there is an inner and an outer element. You have just listed the outer. If you have a single element, it's a different number. Also, TractorSmart used to just charge $5 total shipping. I'm not sure if that's still the case, but you can check.

I have purchased from TractorSmart in the past, and they had the best prices and fast delivery.

edit: look in the Info section on their website for a great description of how your GST works. Also, look for your exploded parts manual in the Manuals section. They will e-mail it to you for free! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Thanks for the tips. I need a new headlight housing as mine has a big hole in it and their price is $90.41 vs. $108.49 at the local dealer so that would pretty much pay for the shipping on the entire order. I imagine their other prices are a little cheaper as well.

They do have a really neat description of the GST transmission. Thanks for the tip.

They send you a parts manual diagram for free? I filled out the information and we'll see what I get. I was about to pay $26.95 for a parts manual so that might save me a little money.

Thanks again!

It's a scanned copy in .pdf format of the original Kubota parts manual.
Very handy - and the price is right. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

you guys do not have to pay for those parts manuals. If you call we will send you whatever diagrams you need for free.

All they do is a print off our computerized parts system and wrap it into a .pdf.

I just put an order in with tractorsmart today.

I ordered all new filters, my tilt steering wheel screw assembly and lever, a new headlight assembly, an operators manual, fuse box cover and a couple spare keys for $216.90 + $21.36 of shipping for a grand total of $238.26. I've gone through the parts manual that they sent me for free in PDF a dozen times already.

I checked Messick's online site and they were just a few cents off of Tractorsmart and I thought about ordering from them, but we'll see if Tractorsmart can get the parts to me by Friday and if they can I'll be happy.

I thought about going to the local dealer and seeing if they would price match but they would have still had to order in some things and this way it is delivered to my doorstep.

Thanks again for the headsup on tractorsmart. I'll let everyone know how long it takes to get here.

Thanks, Nathan

Okay, I received the order today. Not exactly super fast, but several of the parts I ordered were not in stock and they had to get them from Kubota and then wait until they got them and then send me them all together. Plus shipping from Pennsylvania to Texas via UPS seems to take forever.

Got all the parts and everything looks good except one of the 4 plastic mounting tabs for the headlight assembly is broken off. I sent them an email asking what to do. (They had no reason to suspect the part was broken, it was in the original box from Kubota).

In retrospect I should have just called in the order and made 2 separate orders for the things that they had in stock vs. the items that they didn't. I think it might have been worth it to pay the extra 15% or so and start establishing a relationship with my local dealer and with one of the Kubota parts distribution points being Dallas I would have had the parts a week and a half ago.

Kind of one of those things where if it doesn't matter how long it takes then saving the $30 or $40 on a big order is worth it but I really would have liked to have the parts sooner than 2 weeks and if I had known it was going to take that long I would have ordered them locally.

FWIW, Nathan
