That’s what she said

I used my small saws today for the first time in about 6 months. The Echo (500P) started in 3 pulls, like it had never been put away. The Husky (562XP) took over 20 pulls, and I darn near gave up on it. It ran and started fine the rest of the day, but geez, I darn near busted my gut getting it out of hibernation. Funny thing is, out of the two saws, the Husky has a primer bulb and the Echo does not.

You must have flooded it.

You must have flooded it.

I suspected that as well, but pulled off the air filter to check out the carb and there was no gas smell like I would have expected if it was flooded. I have heard of flakey problems like this with the Autotune saws when stored off season, and I suspect it was one of those issues.

I have the Echo 501p and the 550xp, both less then a year old, so far the Echo starts the easiest, but my new 550xp starts lot better then the 2013 550xp I had. That flooded on just 1 pull, 3 pulls gas would run out of the exhaust, didn't have to be a Sherlock Holmes to detect, hey I think my saw is flooded. And the fastest way to start it was take the plug out, crank it dozen times, put plug back in and then it would start right up, it was an excellent saw to warm you up in the middle of winter, I'm glad it broke..............

^^^^^
Funny, my 545 ((same as your 550, but not an XP) was the same way. It would stall 4 times while limbing one tree, and every time I would have to set the brake, hold the throttle and drop start it repeatedly as I mentioned previously. Like you say it really didn’t break my heart the day that I rolled a log on it.
