Has anyone on the Forum used or bought the Edge Tamer attachments that attach to your loader bucket to keep it off the ground for snow plowing ? Just wondered how good they work?

The work pretty good for not scraping the tar and for not digging into the lawn or unfrozen ground but I have so much frost here It doesn't matter if I use the cutting edge I don't dig anything up. They leave to much snow on the ground for me.

I have them and love them. They do leave snow and that builds up with each snow fall of course. In usual winters for me I would prob be like Buckchaser. Once the ground is good and frozen take them off. This year we have had snow, then warm weather where it all melts. So each storm has been like the first one. There is a need for them.

I also use them when dealing with the horse manure pile around the farm. Much easier to push that up into a pile knowing I am not digging a deeper hole each time.

They are heavy duty and well made.

In you're location and the manure project I would think they would be an asset to you for sure.

Do you use just one on each end or an extra one in the middle of bucket.?

When I bought mine they only had the 3" and 4" now I see they have a 6". I bought the 4" and only got two. My bucket is less than 5 foot wide. There has never been a time when I wished that I had another one in the middle. I put them about 1/4 of the way in from the outer edge of the bucket so there is less distance between them across the center line. I mainly do this so when I am putting them on or taking them off I can turn the socket a full revolution without hitting the side of the bucket with the tool. Just makes install/removal easier.

I have tried installing with my impact driver but can't get them on tight enough with that and result to tightening the last bit by hand.

When I plow we have several feet of concrete right in front of the garage. So I remove the edge tamers and back drag the snow off of that onto the gravel drive. Then put the edge tamers back on and do the drive. Removal/install takes 2 minutes.

I really really like these if you cannot tell :)

Yes with the constant supply of manure to deal with I leave them on 85% or more of the time.

I plan on purchasing a plow for next year, but it wasn't in the budget for this year. I didn't think the tamers would work for my gravel driveway, because it's not in the best shape. It has too high of a center, and a mix of different sized gravel that is well compacted in some areas, but very loose in others. I made my own "edge saver", mostly just hoping it would stop me from scraping too much gravel off the driveway. It has worked amazingly well. Works great on my gravel driveway, and even better on grass (frozen ground).
