Update...

Got the boom sprayer mounted on the deere to take advantage of good weather to spray weeds and to keep rolling forward on everything that need be done.....

Planned on spraying around 7 acres at least. All was going as planned then after the first 4-1/2 acres the heavy duty push/pull switch that sends power the sprayer pump busted. Pulled on the knob and I found myself holding the knob in my fingers with part of the rod that goes into the switch housing still in the knob... no power to the pump neither. I cursed like a trucker with a sailor dialect with the new turn of events.

There was a shipping snafu with the LS parts. Early this week I was told with apologies. So at this point what ever parts get here first new switch or LS pieces that's what gonna get the next round of attention.

My Dad told me long ago, "You dont have to be crazy to farm, but it does help."

Yeap... I've been pretty fortunate to have pretty reliable equipment for my little operation. I have purchased backup parts for all of the things that I've found to be limited life parts. Amazon has helped A LOT on the parts front.

That style of switch has been very reliable for me in equipment applications. All metal, 6-32 volt, no relay needed, push/pull brass screws for wire connections.
But ya, I did kinda drop the ball. I usually have extra parts like that heavy duty switch wich I did get from amazon. I installed the 'spare' in the Kubota and did not re-order another. I have not had one not work or fail till this one.
Stuff only break when you use it....

Update....

I noticed when I took the egr valve off it was not dry and sooty neither. The residue was Kinda glazed and shiny.

So I pulled off the egr cooler and guess what, dry and sooty on the 'in' and shiny and glazed on the 'out'.... suns a bi%ch.

Prolly more of the reason why the dpf was 'severely' plugged then the failed egr valve.
For those that have had EGR cooler failures, I would assume it must show up in as a loss of coolant noted in the level of the coolant overflow tank dropping. Has this been noted at all. I've added at most a 1/2 quart of coolant in the 5 years/200hrs I've had my LS but I don't see that being excessive.

Last fall I did noticed a drop in coolant level in the over flow. The level would fluctuate but started settling lower in the over flow.

I read on tbn somewhere if you suspect a leaky egr cooler is to pull off the pipe from the cooler to the egr valve and see if its dry and slightly sooty or shiny and glazed looking. Dry good, glazed meant coolant leak.

In your case, if there is a leak it can't be too much since the overflow tank doesn't hold a lot of fluid. Something to watch for though.

I was looking through the latest Fleet Farm flyer where they have the Power Service Diesel Injector and DPF flush additive on sale. I looked it up and some guy did a YouTube video with one of Power Service's chemists explaining the testing the did (with white papers of their testing) and found their results interesting. Never used it so YMMV. There sure are a lot of choices when it comes to diesel fuel additives.

Rather kill the leak than wait for it to be more.
