ehydro kickout

hey guys have another concern I would like to share and get your expertise on. I have a 3120 with ehydro and when i am pulling real hard in B range sometimes it will kick out of B range into neutral. I haev never pulled real hard in C or A range so I do not know if it will do the same thing. Is this a saftey kickout when i over load the tranny or is this a problem i should haev checked out? Thanks

Never have seen this myself. Make sure you are fully in range. At first, it i seems a little tricky going in and out of range. Maybe you aren't quite there!

maybe this is true, it doesnt happen all the time, the times it has happened have been when i am doing heavy rear blade work or pulling a fully loaded dump trailer up a real steep incline. During these times the lever woudl just pop out of range. <font color="green"> </font>

I have a 4310 ehydro and have worked A and B range hard and have driven for an hour on the highway in C range and have never had them slip out of gear.

I have had that happen on my 4720, but I think it was my fault. I don't think I had the selector centered.

I think you need to ask your dealer to look into this issue. This is not normal.

I have a 3320 and was mowing and had it pop out of gear once- but I'm pretty sure I hit the gear shift with my elbow. I have some steep hills that I rotary mow and come into a heavy load in loose soil nearing the crest. I'm very careful there- if it pops out of gear on a slope- I'm gonna take a ride I'll never forget backwards down the hill. I'd have it looked at- it could be pretty dangerous depending on where you are and what your towing.

I agree with what has been said. I've had my 4320 do the same thing, but I think it is because I didn't get it completely in proper range. It is an eye opener when it happens on a hill - thus I've taken extra care when changing to a different range, and I haven't had the problem continue since I've been paying closer attention.

I am not sure what really happened as I didn't stop and really check it out...just kept cutting....

I was mowing with the rear grooming mower on my front slope. I had been up and down the hill several times with no problems (note: steep enough that I had to use 4wd near the top of the slope and then used 4wd to slowly crawl down the hill). On one trip, just as I started back down the hill, I was freewheeling so fast all I could do was try to keep from flipping as I tried to apply the brakes, without locking a tire and make it more likely to tip. I put two different sets of skid marks, digging up grass, before I got leveled out and slowed down. I should have stopped, checked everything, and assessed what happened. I didn't. As I was on level then, I pulled it out of 4wd (with my foot, as I usually do), it had definitely been in 4w. I can't really say if I pushed the shift forward to be sure it was in low. I don't think it had slipped out, or that I had knocked it out. But, I really don't know.

One thing I do know is I check it well now and keep my mind on where to steer if it should happen again.

A little freewheeling down a steep slope certainly does add excitement to mowing the lawn! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
