eicher? zetor?

I still don´t know anything about the indian Eichers, they had been offered here, but it didn´t look as anyone has been sold here. Even chinese tractors aren´t the big sellers in Germany.
About fuel efficency, Yes the older aircooled engines (Deutz FL 514 or MWM from 50´and 60´) needed more fuel, but today this is solved. If I had to choose between an indian Eicher or a Zetor I would choose the zetor ( Yes ZJ, Doc would love me for that /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) but a Eicher dealer a mile away would make me thinking about buying one, if I need a cheap tractor, even when Jinma dealer was only 1/2 a mile away.
The indian tractors have a better quality, from what I´ve heard then the chinese ones.

If my knowledge is good, older Deutz motors had indirect injection, and were more thirsty.
Nothing wrong with Zetor, as with any other if you know weak things about them, and try to avoid it (brakes, for example). I remember time when you're looking for Z7211, and allmost became Doc's buddy /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
We have offer of TAFE for over 10 years, when was shortage to IMT tractors. Seems good basic tractors. I remember time when IMT has cooperation with TAFE, about 25y ago.Nothing wrong with them.
Seems that Indian products are solid built, with good material and I'll not avoid them, when I'll avoid Chineese tractors in biiig arc. Just my opinion.

There haven't been very many Eicher sold in the USA, but they have been here for a number of years, but only a couple of models have been offered. I think some of the Indian models look better than what they offer here.
Eicher (India) began in 1948 from a tie-up with the German Eicher company. (The German Eicher was sold to Massey Ferguson in 1973, ceased production in 1984, and was sold to Dromson which now build specialised Eicher tractors for vineyards and such). Eicher (India) builds a model in collaboration with Valtra which looks very good, probably their best, the 6100. TAFE has purchased Eicher (India) as of 2005. (Interesting note, Valtra is now owned by AGCO, and Tafe is 24% owned by AGCO).

eicher never was Part of MF, they only had Cooperation with them. Eicher sold the vineyard tractors to MF with MF tinwork and Eicher engines. Eicher sold Eichers with Eicher tinwork and Perkins engines, so they had both, Eicher engines ( range 30..) and Perkins (range 40..) .So i. E. the 3072 was a 72 hp tractor with the Eicher engine and the 4072 a 72 hp with Perkins. The 4072 was more or less a MF 575 only with Eicher design.

I have a friend that has a Zetor. He loves it and claims it has a JD engine on it. Not real sure about that though. It does have an air compressor, handy for airing up tires and blowing chaff out of the radiator.
