El-Cheapo strobes

I bypassed the flasher on the strobes, but I added a flasher and a relay to flash the headlights when I'm out on the road. If you find the right relay, you can make the headlights alternate with the flashing.

Hey, I like the flashing headlight idea. Did you wire it so you can still turn the headlights on full time for night use too?

Hmmm.... I wish you guys would stop giving me all these good ideas, my list is getting pretty long! Oh well, at least it's the fun stuff, although, I tell my wife it is hard work /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif And of course I HAVE to have strobes on my tractor because.... well.... because it's a new tractor law /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Think she'll buy it... I doubt it. She'll just say, yeah right, go play!

I got mine today, and for nine bucks they look like a good buy IMHO. Here are some dimensions in case anybody is interested.

diameter top: ~ 2 3/8"
diameter bottom: ~2 3/4"
height from base: ~ 1 5/8"
mounting studs: ~ 1/2"

These are rough measurements, but may give you an idea of what to expect.
Electrical specs: 12VDC, 150mA

Yes I did leave the headlights so that they work original. But it means running another wire out for one of the headlights, connected to the relay to make them independent of each other.

I don't know where you are since your profile isn't filled out but in NY it is illegal to wire up a vehicles headlamps to an alternating flasher (Called Wig Wag lighting) since it imitates police, fire, or emergency vehicles. I don't know the legality for doing it on a slow moving tractor. I can't imagine you trying to pull over a speeder with your tractor though.

It was done while I mowed along side the road to attract attention to idiot drivers. I never went on the road with my "wig-wag" headlights. As a former PO, I think I know better.

He was in his yard so this law would not apply.

I don't think that is what he was trying to do.
I believe he was just trying to keep from getting run over in his own front yard.
