Yep. Nothing new about electric cars except the type of battery. That was a time when gasoline was hard to come by. Looks like history is repeating itself.

The cities where these are banned are so choked with cars that even walking is dangerous. China never prepared itself for cars and 30 years ago almost no one had them, only bicycles.
It's all about the $ here as cars drive more $ than bikes or pedestrians.

It's funny though, as soon as you get out of the cities, there are very few cars on the newish highways, it's kind of creepy driving huge roads with few cars.

NYC had banned scooters though for the same reason as Forbes states, too many accidents/injuries and traffic interference. NYC put in bike lanes and accidents have slowly decreased, as long as people don't park in the lanes, which happens a lot.

Are you talking about the skateboard style or a real 2-passenger scooter style? Unless it could travel at 65+mph, I'd get run over trying to get to my small town. o_O
