Yes, they all make the tock sound, at least all of the ones I've ever seen. Sounds like you have quite a setup now. You going into the fencing business? :)

I don't think mine makes any sound... I'll check for sure over Thanksgiving. I'm guessing mine might be on all the time since it's a cheap unit? Wonder if the "tick" sound is to save money  - switches the unit on and off. Have not gotten nailed by it yet, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time (I can see the wife plugging it in when I'm working on it... of course it will be by "accident")

Oh you'll get zapped, one day.

The tock is the hot charge going out on mine. There is a light that flashes too. There is a second light that shows it "charging up" and then the tock noise and the other light flashes to show current has gone out. Thus, the wire is not "hot" every second. A zap is sent every second or so thus the tock sound.

I may be OTL but that's how I think it works. I have had 3 different brands and they were all the same. Gallagher, Snapper and one other brand that I cannot remember the name of.

Both of mine make a steady tick, tick, tick sound as the light lights and it sends a charge to the fence.

When I was a boy, we had a girl in the neighborhood who learned how to quickly touch the fence between ticks and not get shocked. She used to always tell the boys that the fence was off and demonstrate by hitting it and dare the boys to do it. All the boys hated her. :p

You're right about that note of caution. We always have bear around here but they are no problem if you dont tempt them by leaving food out or in trash, this one is a rogue.

Peanut butter or some hambuger, a 12 pk of beer, lawn chair and a 30-30.

Very pleased with the fence! We were in the corral working when a couple guys walked by, their dog is allowed to wander up on and into all the property they pass. Our girls had turned the fence on and the dog yelped as if hit with a big stick, jumped around and got hit again yelped and ran down off the hill barking back at the fence. The next time they came by the dog stayed by their side until they had passed our property. I think that was a good test. We were going to hang a piece of bacon on the wire, as suggested in a post, to test the carger but we think the fence has been tested. Richard

The fence works well! During the heavy snows the bottom three strands are disconnected. {they are under the snow} When this charger hits it hits hard. I forgot it was on it hit me like a ton of bricks and hurt for awhile. I would suggest it for anyone needs to protect. There are chargers that give a little buss. This is a real hit, if you want something to stay in or out, you get what you want.
