electric fence

I run all wires hot. In ideal conditions my voltage stays around 9,000 on the Range Master. The other 3 run 5,000-6,000 vlots. I like the way Kencove test there products they have for sale. That way they can answer questions on any product they sell.

The Kencove site has been great. This pasture will be sectioned off from the Barn so 110 is not a problem. Is it a big no no to mount insulators to trees for corner posts. I hope to find some fence boards by spring to replace the wire with.

I use a lag corner insulator on trees and in wood post as well with HT 12.5 wire. http://www.kencove.com/ShopDetail.php?recordID=ILC They're strong and easy to install. Regular nail on insulators on trees are OK for short term. Trees grow faster than we think. Found out pretty quick that a board is needed for the line insulators and fasten the board to the tree.

( Here's a site with lots of information for your needs. I've been buying from these folks for 14 years. You need it, they got it and are very very good on a timely shipping. Great folks to deal with. I'm sure there are others as well. http://www.kencove.com/ )

Thanks to Charolais and MFL for their advice on Kencove. I called them concerning a problem with deer 'rutting' against my Leyland Cypress trees. Even after closing hours, (I called a few minutes before 5 PM) they explained what I needed, took the order, and will ship everything out Monday morning. Very customer friendly personnel.

Glad they were able to help srs. I like their policy on what they sell. They'll use the product and tell you straight up the good and bad of it. With that type of testing you get good service and information. Not a hot ad. making claims.

Then there's the good friendly people you get to talk to on the phone. Just like a neighbor down the road. Every time I call I always get asked what's the weather like down there in Va. You add that to good prices, good supply in stock and answers you can depend on and you got a great outfit to deal with. And did I mention prompt shipping? /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif I depend on them.

Good luck with your fence.
