Electric Tankless Water Heater

We just installed the GE Geospring as well. Until the end of the year there is a 30% federal tax credit on this particular unit which sweetened the deal. You gotta shop around for a good deal because when the tax credit was announced, they jacked up the price.

We are looking for this thing to pay for itself in a less than four years, after that, it's printin' money! And I'm not necessarily "green", but I am cheap. So if it saves money, I'm all for it.

FWIW, our contractor grade A.O. Smith water heater started leaking after four years and it was a true energy hog.

I've had one of the first gen tankless electric for ~8 years now on a well up North. The main issue with the older ones is temperature consistency. The newest stuff has 2 or 3 seperate stages with 20 or 30 amp breakers for each stage so you need a fair number of blank spaces in the panel.
I like mine, but would upgrade if it broke and get a newer tankless style. I do think down south the heat pump style units might be a better option versus up here.
