2005 Jinma 254
I'm having troubles with my Jinma 254 2005 model tractor. My guages don't work now, and even my light switches. Where do I start? Fuses all ok.

Instrument cluster or individual gauges?

Instrument cluster. yet...once in a while they actually work. Intermittent. But more often than not there's nothing.

Bad connection at the positive, negative (ground), or in the clusters circuit.

Here is a schematic: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...28-jinma-284-electrical-schematic-2005-a.html

I would start at the fuse panel and work toward the gauges. There is a large modular plug that connects all the wiring coming to-from the fuse block. All of the gauge circuits and all of the lighting circuits share a common ground point. If I recall correctly it is located on top of the fuel tank and bolts to the chassis there. I think there is also a modular plug at that point but I will have to go look at my tractor again to refresh my memory.

Good luck.

Insects and moisture create problems in those instrument clusters. I've found nests in the pig tail connectors that - when wet - short individual wires. And once wet, corrosion starts to set in. I recommend you start by pulling the cluster and do a good cleaning of both halves of the connectors.

I like to:
Inspect, clean, and tighten all grounds.
Disconnect and reconnect all connectors 2-3 times each.

It is fast and often effective, and amounts to a tactile and visual inspection of the entire system. A person doesn't have to be particularly knowledgeable about electricity, so most people can do the work.

I know it has been years since this thread but my Jinma 254 is now doing the exact same thing. Did you ever determine the problem and fix? Thank you!
