A design question for you electronics wizards.

My Kubota L4310 had a strange, but in my view, desirable feature in the turn signal/warning flasher circuit. There was a standard turn signal switch, which produced the expected results. There was a Hazard Warning Flasher button, which also produced the expected results. But, when the Warning Flashers were on, and you turned a turn signal on, the appropriate turn signal would continue flashing, but the other side would go to continuous on. Then, when you turned the turn signal off, both would resume flashing. The question: How did they do that? With a special purpose flasher? Can it be done with two standard flashers?

My EF-5 has turn signals, but no warning flasher. I've got two single-function electronic flashers that have integrated beepers to remind you that they're on and another rocker switch for the warning flasher. Can I connect the two flashers in some way (replacing the flasher that came with the EF-5, of course) to produce the effect the Kubota had?

Mark, my B2710 turn signal/ hazard flashers work just as you described for your L4310. I'm sure I don't completely understand it, but the manual only shows a single "flasher unit" (with 7 wires - not exactly what I'm accustomed to on cars and pickups)./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Bird - That's what I was afraid of. (I couldn't check that anymore - the guy who bought my L4310 wanted the manuals, too. Go figure.) Looks like I may be visiting my old Kubota dealer to buy a Kubota flasher. I'd still like to be able to use the two I've got, because of the beepers, but I haven't been able to figure out a way to make it work the way I want.

The flasher unit is part #3F240-7543-0 for the B2710; don't know whether it would be the same for the L series tractors or not.

Thanks, Bird - I don't care if it's the same unit or not, as long as it works the same way. Unless somebody else here on TBN comes up with a clever way to do it with what I've got, I'll have to buy the Kubota flasher.

Mark,
Maybe you could do it just like my truck. 1157 bulbs (dual filament-turn and tail light) Two terminal automotive flasher and hazard flasher. Automotive hardware is inexpensive.

Al - I've got the lights already - super-bright LED 4" round ones. Do you know what happens when you turn the warning flashers and a turn signal on in your truck? If I'm not mistaken, the flashers override the turn signal. What I want is the Kubota style of warning flasher/turn signal combination.

Mark,
My MF 1250 lights functions just as you said your 4310’s did. My turn signals and my flashers are on the same switch. You turn the switch left or right to use the signal, you pull out to turn on the flashers. From looking at the whole tractor wiring diagram, the switch is the only controller for those lights. I also have a enlarged diagram of the switch functions. It shows how the four wires are connected to produce the desired effect

Ditto on my jd4300. Works the same way as you say the kubota works. Sounds like a tractor thing to me. here's one to think about. Since the lights on the EF don't work like all the other tractors is it really a tractor? Could be the deciding factor.

That could be added to that PLC/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.Would not need the Kubota flasher.
