On my 770 I find it impossible to tighten up the sway links on the 3 pt. hitch enough to do anything. So whatever implement I have on the back moves maybe a foot either way depending on where the easiest path is for the implement to follow or on the tilt of the tractor. I'm using a disk, a blade and a cultivator.

Maybe there is a secret method to tightening up the sway links that I don't know about.

Can I put a sway brace on there? I have seen in stores a brace that appears to be made for that function, looking like an elongated upper link with the ends angled.

Is there anything wrong with having the implements installed rigidly so they won't sway?

I have a 770 and my attachments have a pretty big swing between the narrowest and widest mounting width. I'm able to tighten the sway down to a few inches on all of them. You don't really want them completely tight in the lowered position because they will tighten as you lift the 3 pnt and you can put a lot of stress on them.

Have you tried changing the connecting points for the sway chains and/or lift links? I know that you can vary the tractor end of both by moving the spacers around on the bar that goes through the lift links and the sway anchors. I'm at work or I'd go look at my 770 and list the "pattern". I also don't remember if there are multiple holes to attach the lift link end of the sway chain.

I've been thinking about designing a different sway brace because I'm not a terribly big fan of the design of mine. I've looked at the ones I think you're describing, but am pretty sure that they would not easily work. I think they would require a different connection on the tractor end.

I have the same issue. Just haven't had time to address it. My thought was to reverse the connecting pins on my implemments so the stick inward, facing each other. Then loosen the sway links enough to allow adjustment and mounting. This would work fine for the non-driven implements, but I'm not sure of the clearance with a PTO shaft in the middle.

Does the 770 have a similar setup to my 755, where the anti-sway chains have to be unpinned to tighten or loosen? I am currently experimenting with a hardware store turnbuckle on one side. The problem is, there's not enough length between the anchor pin on the rear axle housing and anchor point on the lift arm to use a turnbuckle of any decent size. So far, so good, but the strength of the turnbuckle is substantially less than the chain it replaces,

Yes, it is similar to the 755 setup.

I think you will find the hardware store turnbuckles to be too weak.

I like the idea of reversing the pins.
