Enclosed trailer - Is a V-front worth it?

That’s stupid. You size the trailer for the square footprint and anything in the V is just bonus space.

It depends on the trailer and how you measure the length. Many measure the length at the front of the v-nose vs at the transition from v walls to straight walls. That will cost you several feet compared to a flat nose trailer.

I've seen them advertise and include the length from the ball coupler to the brake lights, it's a buyer beware world.

I have a v-nose that I tow with a dually but I don't pay much attention to the mileage because I don't really care but I can't imagine it wouldn't cut through the air better than a flat front would.

I had a 7 x 14 veenose with two axles pulled with a 6 cylinder Tacoma. It was filled with household goods and packed full. No issues at all with two trips from Maine to NC. A trailer will pull fine if it is loaded with heavier weights over the axles.

Lol, I got my 7x14 dual axle the same time I got my 2009 Tacoma (V6 4x4 TRD sport). Was getting back from Kuwait & hauling all my crap from the parents in Oregon over the Rockies to Colorado. Taco is rated to pull 6,500lbs & I'm guessing I was around 5,00lbs of trailer & cargo.

With a full trailer going over the Rockies it got mighty thirsty & couldn't quite keep 65-70. Probably would have been smarter to take it a little easier & easier on the fuel bill.

The only issue I ever had with that square trailer was sway 1 time with little to nothing in it. Think that was the first & only serious sway issue I've ever had. Was almost a code brown, but a tap on the brake controller got sorted out. Did the rest of the hour long trip at 60 as it got uppity past 64. No issues on the way home with a couple hundred lbs of junk in the front.

Sold the trailer a year or 2 ago for $350 less than I paid for it. Good trailer still, but I didnt use it anymore. It earned its keep before that as storage & a good number if moves.

I never had an enclosed trailer and never shopped for one. But, I thought the V-nose was additional enclosed hauling space.??

It's my understanding that the V doesn't count in the box measurement. For example I have two 7x18 enclosed. That's just the rectangle part. The V is in addition to the 7x18. I like it in my case because I have a winch mount in the V for disabled motorcycles. The battery to operate the winch also fits up there.
I also have E track on the front walls top & bottom to store tie down straps, soft ties, etc.
I've pulled the trailer from the NY/Canada border to the Daytona area full of motorcycles, tools, luggage, 2 spare tires, etc. many times. With a gasser F250, the mileage does indeed suck.
