Today, I actually saw the new Woods backhoe for the BX at a local dealer. I must say that is looks to be an excellent implement. It was still strapped to the pallet, but the dealer's man was in the process of unpacking and figuring it out himself. It has what looks like a nice heavy duty sub-frame. The welds, paint, and general tooling looked excellent. I believe it will be a fine addition to any of the little Kubotas. They intend to give a demonstration when it's complete. I will report back if I am able to participate.

No definite word on pricing, as the dealer hasn't been invoiced yet. I'd figure around 5K.

Jim, I saw one of those units at the Empire Farm Days. I agree, it looked like a excellent unit. I have not looked very closely at the BX23 BH's, but off hand, the Woods appeared more ruggedly built, and the fit and finish was excellent. The Woods rep gave me a price of $5800.

Some questions I'm wondering about:

Is the backhoe powered off of the tractor hydraulics somehow, or does it/can it use a PTO-driven hydraulic pump?

Can the subframe be left on & still mount the MMM?

What do they do with the seat?

What do they do with the 3ph drag arms?

regards,

Mahlon

Mahlon,

Yes, the hoe is powered via tractor hydraulics.

The dealer did not know yet if the subframe will be left on & still be able to mount the MMM. I asked the same question. It looked to me like it might come off so you can attach a mower deck, but I could be wrong.

I believe they swap the seat out so it flips like the BX 22s

Not sure about the 3PT arms....

The cylinders look huge for such a small hoe. It's a nice setup.

The subframe stays on the tractor and allows for the MMM to stay attached and used just like the BX23/23. The 3-point arms are removed similar to the BX22/23. I was quoted $4,500 by my local dealer.

What exactly did you see that gave that impression?

When Woods anounced the release, someone reported that the MSRP was $5500. With quotes already ranging from $4500 to $5800, seems it'll pay to shop around. Since this unit is designed to work with several subCUTs by way of different sub-frames, I wonder whether there is any difference in price based on differing sub-frames? I wouldn't think so. I also read someone's statememt that the lift arms must be swapped out with "split" lift arms; wonder if that's accurate? Also, did these quotes include or not include: a) subframe mounting, b) swapping out seats &/or lift arms, c) shipping charges, d) delivery charges, e) tax?

It seemed that the Woods was generally made with heavier material. Now, as I am not in the market for one, I did not compare specs or ask any detailed questions, so my impression may not be correct.

My quote of $4,500 was with the subframe mounting kit and 12" bucket.
