End of the KOBALT Brand

Long story but I need to buy new wrenches. Any advice on brand and/or style? I've got a decent socket set but no wrenches at all!

Are you a regular user for business or weekend stuff? I can't believe I am saying this but for the money the HF Pittsburgh wrenches on sale, or using coupon can be very affordable and you don't feel so bad if they walk away.

You'll get as many different opinions as replies...I like 'Thorsen'...even being abused for 39 years they have little to no scratches...they are HARD tools...!

The guys at a local lowes in missouri said they are not dropping the kobalt line, they are just adding craftsman to it.

It never fails though, there's always some hard to reach bolt that you need a different wrench or tool to get at.

Reputation is KING and the 'bush telegraph' is lighting fast. Screw someone over and 'word gets around' quick-smart! So, if you shake hands you bloody well stand by it.

The local Lowes ran a flyer with both Kobalt and Craftsman advertised. Craftsman did have the top of the cover and the center section, but Kobalt was there.

Just curious. I haven't done that much comparison shopping of the two brands. Which of the two has the higher relative prices for comparable products at Lowes? "House" brands are usually less expensive than "name" brands in retailing.

That would be my guess. I've read different opinions about Craftsman "quality" of late, but I've been happy with all of my Kobalt purchases so far. I'm especially happy with my Kobalt 12/120v inflator -- I don't have to start my regular compressor just to pump up a mower/truck/trailer tire that is low on pressure.
