Outlander, I think that is the right number for the plug. I just called Wilson's and it was shipped on Thursday so I should have it Monday. Thanks for the link, I didn't realize the diagrams were on line. Wallace I'll definitely dope up the sides of the freeze plug. I think I have the copper impregnated type gasket shellac and I think that should work ok.

Go to your tractor dealer or TSC and see if they have a thicker o-ring. There are several different thicknesses available.

Sorry to hear you have to wait so long for the new freeze plug. I thought of a block heater for mine but opted for the in line lower hose heater from the local auto parts. Was cheaper and easier to install and keeps the coolant temp about 130 - 140 degrees. I used to have it plugged in 24 hrs. but that added to the electric bill too much so now have it plugged into a heavy duty timer set for an hour or two before I'm going to use the tractor.

JerryG. Wrong part of the country for TSC stores. There may be some in southern New England but not up here that I know of. As far as a thicker o-ring that would probably work but I ran into so much trouble just trying to find a freeze plug I don't think I will start another scavenger hunt right now. I'm going to try and attach a photo of the heater and o-ring but not sure if will show up very well. The oring is as far as I can tell is 44.5MM the hole is 45 I think.
