Engine cuts out, JD 318

I have a JD 318 1986, When the engine is run for approximately one and a half hours it appears to be having a breakdown in the ignition. it dies, then runs. I only have this problem when hot. does not die all the way just cuts in and out. Onan engine

They have a pickup under the flywheel, it could be the coil, but I had to replace my pickup this summer. If you google onan test procedures you will find how to test the pieces. My coil was out of spec and I replaced it. ran the exact same way. ended up buying a pickup online as it was 1/3 of what the JD dealer wanted. runs better than ever.

I found on my Steiner that the molex connectors that carried the wiring had limited electrical contacts. By cleaning them and readjusting the pins within the connector it made it reliable again. Mine too was cutting out and I tried replacing plug wires, coil and plugs before I found the connector to be the issue. It too only did it while hot.
That was three years ago. Still have my spare parts in case I need them to troubleshoot it again.
