Thanks to all for the tips. It was exactly as all indicated... no hydraulic oil getting to the pump... or not enough. I drained the transmission housing all 13.5 gallons. I found the filter that I had cleaned good, I thought, was clogged again. I also found that the filter that i got from a tractor supply, the one in the photo, is not the correct one for my tractor. Concave end on the lower end of the filter was not a large enough diameter for that heavy duty spring to press the flat washer against the sealing O ring.
After finding this out I resorted to cleaning my new (slightly used) filter again. This time I resorted to lots of "dawn" grease desolving detergent, then fresh water, then air blowing from the inside of the filter outward, then soaking for a while in alcohol, more hp air, then soaking in alcohol gas and more hp air from the inside out. This time it is clean. I reinstalled the same hydraulic oil since it on had 10 hours run time.
I strained it through nylon panty hose and a 200 mesh fuel strainer. From what I saw in the hose and mesh strainer I think I trapped every thing larger than a gnat's whisker.
Last time I went through this messy drill... I cleaned the transmission casing out good with fresh diesel. But from what i saw today I did not get everything out. Since this tractor is old in years and sat in the weather most of time I have concluded that I may have to do this several times before everything is clean again.
