I stopped by my local kubota dealer and picked up an oil filter. I am at 110hrs and going to change the oil this weekend. What I am wondering is if using synthetic oil vs standard oil is an option. The kubota manual recommends using 10W30 I believe.

Look under the "Oil, Fuel & Lubricants" section. There are hundreds of messages discussing different types of synthetic & dino oil, and the merits and disadvantages of both. Also do a search for "synthetic oil". The simple answer to your question is yes.

Nearly everyone on this site will have different opinions about what kind of oil to use and how often to change it. There is one way I don't think anybody can argue... use the manufacturers recommendations. I have my opinions and there are tons of smart people on here with great info but I'm not sure anyone knows better than the people who built the engine.

Ron, I certainly agree . . . with exceptions. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Occasionally, you will find misprints in Owner's Manuals, whether you're talking about tractors, cars, pickups, or other products. And occasionally, you'll find that the manuals were not updated in a timely fashion. When in doubt, it's usually safe to ask a reputable dealer.

Example: My Kubota manual recommended 10W-30 oil with a CC or CD rating. OK, 10W-30 is all right if you can find it; 15W-40 is much more common, at least in the south. But I doubt you can find CC or CD rated oil; those are obsolete ratings. So I used CH-4, and there may be even more recent ratings now, but I'm not sure.

One of the best misprints I found is in the Service Parts manual - Head lights is spelled "Head Rights".
Hmmm, translated from the folks who brought us "GodZirra"!

I emailed kubota regarding this same issue. they responded by saying they were out dated and needed a change. they said using 15w-40 would be acceptable. I didnt ask about synthetic oils but i would bet they would respond the same.

Even with this in mind i use 10w-30 delo 400 in mine. but i may change. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
