Engine Ran Backwards - What Now ??

Gordon, as long as the tree you just cut down didn't stand back up, you'll be ok.

I did this 30+years ago with a little Kubota. Suddenly, I had 4 reverse speeds, and 1 forward.

I didn't give it a chance to stand back up. When I pulled the winch rope and the cable started pushing the log back towards the stump I shut off the tractor so I wouldn't have to cut the tree down again.

Back when I was a kid working at a stone quarry my "ride" at work was a Euclid dump truck. One day I didn't pick a low enough gear for a hill and it died on the way to the top. The truck was loaded and the brakes didn't hold. Using the brakes on that thing was almost like dragging your foot on the ground. Next thing you know, I'm headed back down where I came from. It acted like I somehow got it in reverse without shifting and the engine sounded really odd. It was running backwards for a brief time and blew oil from the oil-bath air cleaner all over the fender. After the mechanic refilled the air cleaner he sent me on my way.
